Goal-setting method
PushMe's prioritisation and goal setting method is built upon the foundations of the WOOP model - Wish, Outcome, Obstacle and Plan.
WOOP is a scientifically tested mental imagery tool for setting priorities and goals. The model is based on over 20 years of scientific research in the field of motivation, championed by Gabriele Oettingen, a professor of psychology at the University of Hamburg and New York University.
It’s designed to help you prioritise what’s most important in your daily and weekly routines. To do this, you need to:
1. Wish
Detail what you want to achieve – your WISH (i.e. your priority or goal).
2. Outcome
Visualise the best OUTCOME if you achieved it.
3. Obstacle
Identify the internal and external OBSTACLES that could prevent you achieving it.
4. Plan
Put together a PLAN of action.
Write it down
What tasks matter most to you this week?
Identify and prioritise what you want to achieve.
Write it down on a post-it or capture it electronically where it's easily visible.
Accountability buddy
Now, all these good intentions are great, but putting them into practice...well, that can be a different story.
Reach out to a friend or colleague to help you stay motivated and accountable to the weekly priorities you set. Ask them to check in with you on a regular basis to help keep you motivated and committed to the tasks you set yourself.
